THe Sluggish Sloth

Ok, me and Brie got to talking about sloths and I started thinking about how fascinating they really are! I remember walking through a zoo in Utah once with Jarrett, the little boy I worked with, and we were in one of those rain forest exhibits. I just remember looking above my head for some reason and there was this creature just hanging about 10 feet above my head staring right at me. It seriously freaked me out and I had no idea what it was but I was sure it wasn't supposed to be out of a cage! Well now they have an exhibit like that at our zoo and they have a "sloth tree" where they have some sloth facts so I thought I would share some with you guys...

Sloths are very slow. They don't move at all unless they have to in order to eat or go to the bathroom and when they do it takes them a whole minute to cover only half a foot! They sleep 15-18 hours a day and only come down to go to the bathroom once a week! In fact they are so lazy that if a baby sloth falls from the mother it will probably die because the mother is unwilling to leave the tree to go find it! (Yeah Brie, I changed my mind when I read that!) Can you imagine being a sloth? Boring!

Yep, that definitely made me love sloths more - they're so cool! What other animal in the world just doesn't move?!! Haha, nothing like elephants when it comes to their babies...that's sad, but I definitely love sloths! (Though I don't like Snook too much either, Kie :)) Don't you remember seeing sloths in the trees in Costa Rica, Cass? I thought you knew what they were then (wasn't that before Jarret?).

yes i do remember seeing them in trees in Costa Rica but all i remember seeing was a lump of fur... so when i saw the one in the zoo that was staring at me i didn't know what it was because i didn't really know what a sloth looked like.

Oh yeah, that guy was a hottie, go Cass! I just can't believe you made out with him when you had a boyfriend!! There was a comic in the paper with sloths today, it was funny. A 3-toed sloth told another one to flip the bird to a 2-toed sloth because he wouldn't be able to do anything about it, then it said down below "Why 2-toed sloths hate 3-toed sloths" haha. Pretty lame explained - oh well.
